Transferring the LCA Background report to an EPD report according to the selected PCR

Calculating the impacts of the product and carrying out hotspot analysis to determine the stages/materials with highest impact. Main drivers for the impacts will be identified. This will lead to a proposal of ways to reduce the impacts, by addressing impact drivers, so that ideally, a situation with lower impacts can be achieved. A brief benchmarking can also be made to compare Company product against similar product from different companies.

Impact Assessment

Setting up processes and lifecycle stages of a single product on ’openLCA software. The LCA model will be created in openLCA with a unit-process based structure. This is meant to facilitate the analysis at the end of the study. In addition, the modular design of the life cycle stages will enable maintenance and further project development at Company and offer valid support in the decision-making process, allowing to drill down to details where needed.

Establishing the study's objective, specifying the functional unit, and defining the system boundaries to incorporate into the Lifecycle Assessment are important initial steps. The assumption made here is that the LCA will encompass the subsequent stages of the product's life cycle: acquisition of raw materials, the manufacturing process, and end-of-life considerations.

Preparing data collection sheets to be used in collecting the input, output, energy consumption etc. Identifying datasets that would accurately represents the data collected. Researching proxies and assumptions for materials (if needed). Al Imtiaz Company will provide a bill of material covering the resources, the production line, energy consumption and the transportation services. Additional data for the EoL scenarios will be applied based Company’s research and/or based on common practices scaled to the material’s amount.
